Age before beauty

Being able to tell if someone is being deceptive is always handy…. from  dealing with sales people to meeting new people.

Pinocchio was easy to read, but unfortunately there are not many people with such obvious tells!!!

These 4 simple signs may help though:

The Stare
When a person thinks, its normal for them to break eye contact and look around. If a persons gaze is to constant there is a chance they are trying to gain your trust or not really listening to you (if you mention something that needs to be thought about e.g what would you do if you had a million dollars, this should make the person break eye contact to think)

Their Behavior
If the person you are speaking with suddenly changes their body movements (e.g normally they are restricted and suddenly become animated or vice versa) this is a possible sign of deception. The same goes for speaking, listen to their voice, if it suddenly changes this could be reason to be alarmed. You will need to consider the environment as well…… if the person suddenly finds out they have won the lotto there is a could chance that the sudden backflips and screaming could be consistent to their emotion.

Watch the mouth
Coughing and clearing the throat frequently (unless the person has a cold) can indicate that a person is trying to hide something.

Touching of the mouth can also be an indicator of deception (visualize a child when they have said something they shouldn’t, the hands suddenly cover the mouth. As adults we still do this but the action will be much more subtle)

Say Cheese
A genuine smile changes a person’s whole face. The muscles that orbit the eyes will contract and their cheeks rise along with the corners of their mouth. A genuine smile will also take a few seconds to fade.

A fake smile appears instantly, and disappears just as fast. It is hard to fake the eyes of a genuine smile.

To see what I mean, look at a person as you tell them genuine, happy news, notice the eyes…… then a bit later tell them a rubbish joke….. if they give you a sympathy smile you will see the difference.

I am very used to seeing the sympathy smile after a joke so I consider myself an expert.

These are just guidelines and you cant assume someone is lying just because they covered their mouth (they could be worried that they have a bit of salad stuck in their teeth), combine all the methods together and start seeing things you never saw before.

So with all that time spend 30 seconds focusing on the red dot on the photo below, really stare at the dot.

After 30 seconds stare at a blank wall and start to blink!

It may look like your flirting with the wall, thats okay we all have our quirks.

They are very devious, as they seem to be targeting people who have their hands full with suitcases, to avoid being swiped off immediately.

Please forward this to everyone as it is not just some POMME who is frightened of spiders, this is eight legs (and eyes) against two, and the knock on effect of a man screaming like a girl in the early hours will disturb nearby sleeping people, they may also think that a murder is happening!

I nearly fell into the trap this morning, luckily I lived to tell the tale and still made it to the airport in time after wrestling with the eight legged brut!

I Hope You Did'nt Cheat & Scroll Straight To The Answer

With social functions a plenty here is a little number puzzle that you can keep in your arsenal, to either cover an awkward silence, impress friends, win free alcohol or just irritate people.

The puzzle is this:

Add one straight line of any length at any angle to make the sum correct (see picture)….. you cannot however put a line through the equals sign (as if to say ‘not equals’ to all the smart arses)

What you have to do is count the number of people in this animation, wait a few seconds until they change places, and then count them again… is there a problem with your counting, or is this some kind of magic trick :)
